About Green Paws Behavior Rescue
Welcome to Green Paws Behavior Rescue, The greater Tucson area's newest dog training facility! This veteran-owned company is excited to embark on a mission to strengthen the bond between pets and their families through balanced dog training.
But what exactly does "balanced dog training" mean?

Balanced dog training is a comprehensive and versatile approach that combines positive reinforcement with corrective techniques. At Green Paws Behavior Rescue, we believe in creating a harmonious balance between reward-based methods and gentle corrections to achieve the best results in dog behavior modification.
Positive Reinforcement:
We emphasize positive reinforcement to encourage and reward desired behaviors. This involves using treats, praise, toys, and other positive stimuli to motivate dogs to repeat actions that we want to reinforce. This positive approach fosters a strong bond between the trainer and the dog while creating a positive learning experience.
Corrections and Discipline:
While positive reinforcement is crucial, we also recognize the importance of fair and appropriate corrections to address unwanted behaviors. Corrections are administered with care and respect, ensuring the dog understands the correction is related to the behavior, not a form of punishment. This balanced approach helps to set clear boundaries and expectations for the dog.
Individualized Training Plans:
One size does not fit all in dog training. Each dog is unique, with its own personality, background, and learning style. Our balanced approach allows us to tailor training plans to the specific needs of each dog, taking into account their temperament, history, and the goals of their owner.
Communication and Trust:
Building a trusting relationship between the trainer, the dog, and the owner is at the core of our approach. We communicate effectively with both the dogs and their owners, ensuring that everyone is on the same page and working together towards success.
Results-Driven Approach:
Our balanced dog training methods are designed to achieve lasting results. By addressing both positive and undesirable behaviors in a balanced way, we aim to create well-mannered, happy, and confident dogs that thrive in their human companionship.
Elevated Place Cot:
The Elevated place cot is a great tool used to train place. The "Place" command is valuable for managing a dog's actions in various environments. It teaches the dog to self-soothe and allows them to truly relax. The "place" cot and command can be used in many different locations.

Prong Collar:
The prong collar is another communication tool that will provide a controlled correction. Unlike a flat collar, the prong collar distributes pressure throughout the entire neck instead of putting all of the pressure on the trachea. At our facility, we like to use the Herm Sprenger ULTRA-PLUS Training Collar™ because it has a center-plate (to protect the trachea) and is easy to use. This is a great tool when training loose-leash walking!

Tools used for training
Slip Lead:
The slip lead forms a loop around the dog's neck and the tightness can be controlled by the handler. When a dog is displaying unfavorable behavior the slip lead is a helpful tool used to provide a quick and gentle correction.

Electric Collar:
The electric collar (E-collar) is a fantastic tool used at our training facility. The e-collar gives dogs freedom and confidence. We like to use the Educator ET-300 Mini™ because of all the great features it offers- 1/2 mile range with multiple functions, tone only, vibrate, and 100 different levels of medical grade static stimulation (similar to the TENS machine at the chiropractor). The e-collar is a tool used to enhance communication and reinforce positive behaviors. Never to instill fear or discomfort. This is a great tool for off-leash training!
